About Jennifer

An actor's Director; I love the collaboration between technicians and can access true emotion respectfully without harming the actor. I tend towards character driven scripts, female protagonists, stories about the human condition. As a director I am a great collaborator, a generous leader with a firm hand but a warm smile: my skill set is humane and artistic, I let my team do their job- especially true for my camera crew and DP, where my expertise is limited to my understanding of composition, visual language, mood and cinematic reasoning, but lacking in technical know-how. I adore filmmaking because of it's collaborative quality. The process is irresistibly fun and challenging and thrilling. There is no better job in the world.
I have completed dozens of short films (publicity, narrative, documentary) but have yet to direct my first feature film.

As an actor, my type is: Tea Leoni meets Claire Danes: I am bilingual (Eng. American/Italian) but my heritage is Native American/Scandinavian. I do a great deal of voiceover work in English in Italy, my voice is known here as "warm, friendly, deep, female" and is featured in several of the country's most important museums as well as on dozens of commercials and websites and audiobooks.

I am a teacher, a coach for actors and directors: I've taught at a various film schools, I teach privately one on one, in groups, and online. I also do workshops as my specialty is an adapted version of the Meisner technique, a modern approach to acting and directing that is widely appreciated by both European and American students.

As a director I also dabble in screenwriting: I have in development several feature-length scripts, for example, a bilingual Romantic Comedy set in Florence; an Urban Hero Comedy; a Sci-Fi Thriller; a Lesbian Love Story... some scripts in collaboration with other screenwriters, as previously mentioned, collaboration is key in my world.

Unique traits: American filmmaker (actor, director, writer) creating in Florence, Italy, with a talent for uniting people, building relationships, valuing collaboration, creativity, and communication, while respecting not only the various crafts of the industry, but the fact that we are all small business owners. Coach for actors and directors to help facilitate excellent performances with efficient technique and superb communication bridges between both entities- essential traits for success in the audition room, during pre-production, and on set. If my name is on your call sheet, you are in for an easy day.
