About the job

Seeking an Executive Producer to oversee all financial, legal, and logistical operations for this ambitious short film. This is a non-creative EP role focused on production management and funding strategy. Director retains full creative control; the EP ensures the production is funded, legally safe, and operationally strong.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and manage the production budget

  • Oversee grants, funding applications, and crowdfunding strategy

  • Manage all financial workflows (expenses, invoices, payments)

  • Handle insurance, risk assessments, and compliance

  • Oversee production schedule and logistics in collaboration with Line Producer

  • Support permit acquisition for public/street filming

  • Coordinate post-production handoff (composer, sound, editor, colorist)

  • Ensure all legal documentation and contracts are completed

  • Maintain smooth communication between departments

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Experience producing or managing finances for short films or indie productions

  • Strong budgeting, planning, and organisational skills

  • Familiarity with UK/Wales funding bodies (Film Cymru, BFI NETWORK) is a plus

  • Comfortable working with sensitive, emotionally intense queer themes

  • Excellent communication

  • UK-based preferred, but remote candidates welcome

COMPENSATION

This is a paid role contingent on secured funding (grants + crowdfunding).
Once funding is confirmed, rates will align with industry-standard short film compensation.

This is not profit sharing and not deferred payment.

Travel support provided for any required in-person days.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • All applicants must be 18+ due to R-rated thematic content

  • Zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind

  • Production is intimacy-free (no sex or nudity), though themes are emotionally intense

  • Remote collaboration welcomed; Cardiff-based applicants encouraged
