We made this film because we wanted to explore emotional longing. All creatures have appetites. We hunger for something. It may be as deep as wishing to see a missed loved one, or as simple as going outdoors, wishing to feel the sun on your face and the wind in your hair. The characters in “Shedding” all cope differently with their longing, but the shared experience bonds them together, despite such fantastic disparities. Additionally, the film explores the positive effects that pets have on humans. They bring no agendas or distractions to relationships. Just by bringing their presence and undivided attention, the human soul is lifted.
