DOV SIMENS 3 WRITING TIPS: TIP #1: KISS: Keep-It-Simple-Stupid, movies are 90-120 minutes Running Time, 1-page of script is about 1-minute of Running Time. A 90-minute movie can play & make money 6 times/day. A 120-minute movie can only play & make money 4 times/day. DUH…. Write a 90-page script TIP #2: GRAB THE READER: TV viewing mentality has audiences flicking the remote within 15-seconds. If 1-Page of script is 1-minute of Running Time and there are 24 Lines/page. 15-seconds is between Line #5-7. Thus, Grab-The-Reader with a Great WOW on Page 1, Line #5-7. TIP #3: LAZY READERS: Readers are bored. They do Coverage on 500-700 Scripts/year. Thus, adhere to TIP #2 and Grab-Reader on Page-1 between Lines 5-7 and then to make him/her want to turn the page and keep reading… Put a 2nd Grabber on the last Line of Page-1… Now, you’ve hooked a Reader and he/she will read 10 Pages. If the 10 Pages are great, he/she will read the 90-Pages. If the 90-pages are great, he/she will want to buy your script. Voilla! Dov Simens / Dean / 2-Doay & Streaming Film Schools
