About Lutz

I’d love to bring out your best!

Whether you’re a film student, an aspiring filmmaker, a seasoned screenwriter, director or producer - I’m here to support your ambitions.

For more than 25 years I have been dedicating a good part of my career to fostering the projects of both students and peers at any stage. As an award winning filmmaker and cinematographer I've been helping to develop stories for documentaries and fiction and bring them to life, from page to screen.

As a professor of one of the internationally most renowned film schools, the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Germany, I have been co-developing the school's curriculum from its very beginning, mentoring over 250 student films to date, including 4 Academy Award™ winners.

As a training expert and script consultant I've had the chance to substantially contribute to the ongoing creative spring in Swiss film making. I have been collecting teaching experiences in numerous countries, putting to good use my skills, my international upbringing and the five languages I speak.

Are you looking for a consultant/expert/director for your film course or film school (to-be...)?

A script or editing consultant for your latest project?

A cinematographer who loves to work with newcomers as much as with seasoned peers? Who is used to shooting on a budget? Who cares about content that matters?

Well, I’d truly love to bring out your best.

Unique traits: International working and teaching experience, fluent in English, German, Italian and proficient in French.

Film (Documentary) Cinematographer Year after year, for an endless eight months, thousands of families move to a desert in India to extract salt from the burning earth. • The Women in Blue Berets

The Women in Blue Berets (2012)
Film (Documentary) Cinematographer Liberia, a nation scarred by 14 years of brutal civil war, stands at a critical moment in its history as it heads for its second democratic election in October 2011. This election will decide the country's future course - towards peace and stability or violence and chaos. Assisting the UN peacekeeping operation is a special unit from India - an all-female police contingent. Deployed yearly since 2007, it is the first such unit to ever take part in a peacekeeping mission. The all-female contingent is an important experiment for the UN - to rectify the skewed gender ratio within the UN system itself where only 6% of peacekeepers are women, and more importantly, to bring a gendered perspective to conflict resolution and peacemaking. But for Ruby, Tejinder and Philomena the journey away from their families has been difficult. It is their first time in another country - they have never been so far away from home. Like them, most of the other women in their unit have left behind young ... Written by Farida Pacha

  • Dharavi, Slum for Sale

    Dharavi, Slum for Sale (2010)
Film (Documentary) Director The elephant has awoken. Bombay, India's gateway to the West, has reinvented itself - and emerged as Mumbai, a modern, self-confident commercial metropolis. A magnet for the hopes of the rich and poor. But with thousands of migrants pouring in every day, half of its almost 20 million inhabitants is forced to live in slums, between the cracks of the official city. The biggest of these slums is called Dharavi. With an estimated 800,000 inhabitants, it is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Once Dharavi was outside the city limits. Nowadays it's at the heart of a constantly growing metropolis, flanked by traffic arteries and right next door to Mumbai's new financial hub. The former marsh has turned into prime real estate - a playground for ambitious urban planning. Ten years ago, US-trained architect Mukesh Mehta has come back to India to usher in a new turn in Mumbai's slum rehabilitation policies. His formula is Public Private Partnership. Billions of Dollars could be... Written by Lutz Konermann
