This month’s meet-up is being hosted by Lightbulb Grip and Electric Co in Williamsburg. We’ll be joined by Adam Richlin, Rental manager at Lightbulb Grip, to have a short discussion about the new Freelance Isn’t Free Act. This act creates rules for independent freelancers like us filmmakers that protect us from being abused, and give us an avenue to challenge nonpayment with the help of NYState.Afterward, we will open the floor for a Q&A, and then free discussion/mixer.
Drinks: Beer, seasonal wine, soda, water. All cash bar.

About the group
The NYC | Indie Film Collective (IFC) is a member-run, non-profit (501c3 pending) organization made up of Actors, Artists, and Filmmakers dedicated to encourage, promote and support local, regional, and international independent film production.
Our mission is fivefold:
- Support Actors, Artists, and Filmmakers and their projects.
- Build a community to connect, create, and collaborate with on individual and collective projects.
- Promote equality, respect, and diversity at every level.
- Celebrate independent filmmaking, its creators, and the work of artist in-front of and behind the camera
- Provide an Ego/Dive free space where individuals are respected and their skill, work, contributions are valued.
Since inception, the Indie Film Collective has grown to over 5000 members in chapters all over the world: from New York City to Bangkok, England to Los Angeles and Atlanta to Dublin.
We are more than a group. We are a movement of artists who represent a sea-change in an industry that must change and treat its members with fairness, respect, and dignity.
