About the competition

The 6th Annual Creative World Awards Screenplay Competition (CWA), an international screenwriting event, is known for championing writers and opening doors. Through established relationships with some of the industry's most sought-after companies, CWA plays a critical role in connecting talented writers with agents and producers in search of fresh, new material. Their most recent option deals were announced this fall for two 2012 entrants.

CWA has built relationships with such A-list companies as Lionsgate/Mandate International, GreeneStreet Films, Relativity Media, Crystal Sky, Icon Films & Entertainment, and Voltage Pictures, who have first looks at the competition's top projects. Through its first five contests, CWA has secured representation and several option deals for entrants, firmly establishing itself worldwide as a leading source for making deals and granting writers much needed exposure in the industry.

CWA also promotes beyond just the winning scripts, so you have a real chance to get your foot in the door. 46 companies outside of their industry list requested scripts in their fall 2012 logline promotion alone.

JUDGE'S SCORECARD, FEEDBACK & COVERAGE SERVICE: Known for going beyond the status quo, CWA is considered a leading coverage provider in the industry. Discount prices are available for entrants, ranging from $30 to $195, and can be ordered on the online submission form at check out.

Prize schedule

Production deal, industry promotion, & 15 winners... totaling more than $30,000 in cash and prizes! ALSO, CWA promotes beyond just the winning scripts. Each year, semi finalists and finalists also receive special logline promotion to their list of companies and others in the industry.

Grand Prize Winner (1): Receives $3,000 cash, PLUS a Produced Film and industry prize package worth $3,000

CWA in conjunction with The Moving Image Xchange Productions, produces a short film version of the feature script, which helps generate interest for their feature. PREMIERE: The short film will then get an automatic premiere at the Richmond International Film Festival, also giving the writer official imdb credit.

The GPW receives an industry prize package from Sony Vegas PRO, Final Draft 8, InkTip, Michael Hauge, TVFilmRights, the Media Industry Xchange, Development Coaching sessions, and more.

Genre Category Winners (4): $250 cash each, plus an industry prize package worth $1,750

Category 1St Runners Up (4): $100 cash each, plus an industry prize package worth $750

Television Winners (4): $250 cash each, plus a prize package worth $500

Short Film Winner (1): $250 cash, plus a prize package worth $1,000

2012 Creative Concept / Redemptive Theme Award (1): Goes to the most original and compelling concept that conveys a redemptive theme. Winner receives an industry prize package from The Media Industry Xchange, Richmond International Film Festival and a Private Development session with Dr. Jack Boozer, Professor of Film Studies, Adaptation & Screenwriting.
