About G.S.

Being DP / DoP / Cinematographer is my main focus. I have written and directed several shorts, but mainly work with filmmakers and directors to turn their vision into reality.

I have an Art and Design background, with over 30 years photographic experience. I first picked up a camera when I was 10 years old and have been photographing ever since. This photography experience has enhanced my cinematography skills with composition, exposure, framing and especially being meticulous over the details within a scene; a film is simply moving photographs.

I have a varied skill set, including a video production background. I have worked on large scale film sets, as well as on small indie film productions, web series and music videos.

I am proficient on all RED cameras, Epic Mysterium-X 5k, Epic Dragon 6k, Epic-W, Weapon Helium 8k, etc and Sony cameras FS7, FS5, FS700 (F55, F65 occasional use). My go-to camera for 2017-2019 has been the RED Epic-W 8k, it has everything needed for a film or music video in a small package, with a straightforward workflow. I do love Arri, especially the Alexa Mini and Alexa Mini LF.

On set, I have functioned as a DP/ Cinematographer, Gaffer/ Lighting, and Audio Recordist and own and operate my own equipment. I often rent cameras and lenses to meet the goals and style of the film.

I have several scripts in various degrees of development, for features, short films and episodic series.

(I have edited short film & video projects, but it is not my favorite part of film production. Ideally, I would have a hand in color-grading the footage I filmed.)

I am located on the West Side of Los Angeles and travel to wherever the project takes me.
