Introduce Yourself : Doing what I am told... by Mark Elliot

Doing what I am told...

So, I listed myself as an author. Under the circumstances, what could I say? But I am getting ahead of myself... My name is Mark. I am a man. I have a wife. I have a child. I have a life. From the outside, my life appears unremarkable, but that appearance, like color, is an illusion, part my form, part your context, a context I am denied. Every day I awaken as a child, abandoned, on an alien world. You call that world Earth. You don't see I see. You can't feel what I feel. I remember things that haven’t happened. I speak to voices that aren't there. I have survived, by learning to pass as human, and for fifty years I've told no one. Why would I? It is insane. What if I discovered that the memories were true? What if I discovered that the voices were real? What would you do? Would you do what the voices told you to do? "Mark, you must tell them." "That’s crazy. No one'd believe me." "You are correct. Belief is not possible. Understanding is inconsistent with their purpose." "Then what are you asking me to tell them?" "I want you to tell them the truth, but present it as a lie."
