I am writing a script, events happening within a hospital, ICU. My problem is that i don't know the equipments therein. Things like monitors that measure the patient's life situation, cords linked to fingers or head. What do you call that equipment. Please, help.

On a more serious note, calling it 'advanced life support' gets the idea across. Even House had a knack for placing superfluous, but interesting, equipment on the set at times for visual effect.
