My Dear Friend I really enjoyed your article. Great Stuff. The irony is this is what I sent to a person that is helping me raise money for my film this morning. Its raw but here is some practical truths that could be helpful. Business associations are about trust. Long term business associations can only thrive when all parties trust each other. I don't care if you are a secretary, janitor or somebody with a billion dollars in their hands if i can't trust them then something will go very wrong somewhere down the line. You or me can not convince stupid not to be stupid. Real Stupidity is not being able to recognize real talent and or opportunity when it hits you in the face. Mr. C provided some early red flags. I try not to judge others but I could tell there was very little there. "The I want a chinese director and we need to control this and you need to pay for translation" supported my initial observation. They did not want to be a part of a billion dollar franchise they wanted to exercise their egos. As you recall I had you ask them to provide the names of the director and provided us with any film credits and or awards that would rationalise them "directing or being in control" of this very American franchise. They would not respond with this information which threw up additional red flags on their credibility. (Besides do you know of any movies produced and directed in China that have had a successful world wide theatrical release?) China only is able to provide 20% of the content and the rest well you got it (The West) I can be wrong and that is why I did not want to discourage anyone hoping for a positive result. Giant Rock combines the west and the future together. Its a gift to all of those who can see it without getting their inflated egos in the way. The movie Aliens and Cowboys tried to do this but it was not credible. Giant Rock provides a credible link in time between the OLD WEST(cowboy) AND THE FUTURE (martians/ufo) and its based on true events. Our audience is paying us money to take them for a few hours to somewhere else in time. Epics such as the Godfathers 1 and 2. 2001 space odyssey take the audience somewhere else. Giant Rock will do the same thing. I think TV/cable is a remote possibility but having said that I will hold out for the right deal. Giant Rock will get done and will probable do very well. The opportunity for you is huge and you could be instrumental in helping this go forward. Through all of this you were able to bring to the table an old jewish friend, and a Chinese friend to a meeting with me. THIS is better than anyone that I have worked with in the past. But it will take a 100 meetings with 99 rejections to find the right fit for what is truly "The Greatest UFO story never told". And possible the greatest brand name in history that could compare with some of the greats. For you to be successful and not hear about this getting budgeted 8 years from now like your friend in Hollywood you are going to have to fundamentally change your mind set. To what I can not tell you. But every picture tells a story and here is one. I had a quarter horse that had the best pedigree around. I got the best trainer and entered here in three races at 350 yards and she always came in 4th place. 4th place pays no money. I talked with some experts and we saw that in her blood line that three generations back her ancestors dominated at 870 yards. Wa la ! so we trained her for 870 distance and timed her and found out that again the best she could do would be 4th place if entered in that distance. So you can imagine the total loss of confidence. But an interesting thing happened in that we noticed that after training her for 870 yards that she was dramatically faster out of the gate all of the way to 400 yards. So the Casper Wyoming State Fair came up and I said "what the hell" lets enter her in it at 350 yards and see how she does.. The Casper Wyoming fair at the time was one of the biggest quarter horse venues in the Rocky Mountain Region that attracts horses from as far away from Oklahoma and Texas. The problem was that my sister who worked for a law firm in L.A. has a condo in Maui and one of her weeks that she had my wife and I promised to spend with her and her husband. To get the end of the story my mare who had never won a race came off the boards as a 12 to 1 long shot blew the doors off the field and broke the track record. With me sitting in Maui. So if you can't find someone to kick in 40,000,000.00 million perhaps if you go after someone to participate with a long term view with $ 4,000,00? Or who knows call up Warren Buffet or Donald Trump and ask them to put $ 400,000,000. into the movie. This is why I combined the Giant Rock screenplay with the sequel outline into a Novel with the hope of giving Giant Rock additional exposure on the television book circuit. Its an adjustment but because I have the "Greatest UFO Story Never Told" and believe in the story it is a small one to make. But change your mind set or training schedule or put your underwear on backwards as it has been my pleasure working with you the last six months, and I would like to see you be successful by helping Giant Rock be successful.
