Well here is some unsolicited input on both fronts: 1. Get on a team and compete - doesn't even have to be in your own city (though that is preferable). There are so many competitions and most have dozens of teams each needing a composer. A great way to start in addition to what you are already doing. 2. You are telling us what you really can do well which I am sure by now you can do 'with your eyes closed'. Your job now (especially since you have many years of school to go) just like an Olympic athlete is to diversify by getting out of your comfort zone and compose in genres, styles, and ways you have not yet done - NOT epic style. Epic doesn't work for all films - for example, they may need a single instrument (which may NOT be a piano).
