Why do actresses dye their hair blond, but keep their dark brown or black eyebrows? Am I the only one bothered by this? Nothing cries out to me "bleach blonde" faster than thick, dark eyebrows. I don't mean this to sound petty, but I actually find it truly distracting. I really find it hard to lose myself in a character when their face is just screaming "fake" and I am wondering why the director or casting director wanted a blonde so badly that they required a natural brunette to dye her hair. If you want a blonde so badly, please dye the eyebrows, too! I'm not going to argue about how it's easier to get roles as a blonde since we all know it is, but please dye the eyebrows, too, if you don't want the person to look like she just poured a bottle of bleach over her hair.

I totally agree! As a natural blonde who recently went dark, I dyed my eyebrows as well to match the new dark hair. I don't understand why girls don't do this!

Hi, new here and first post. haha!! Well I think some people find it trendy. i.e. Gwen Stefani back when "No Doubt" were a group. Some people can pull it off, some can't. This seems to be a mystery we may never be able to solve...

For me, a rock/performer is something different--they can have five different colors in their hair, and a totally crazy outfit. It's just when I'm watching a film or tv show, trying to get lost in the story, that it becomes jarring for me when the peroxide blonde thing is distracting me from thinking of the woman as a real character.

And a side note: police detectives or government agents with movie star hair flowing all around their face? I'm sorry, but would you really chase bad guys with hair in your eyes? Because you would probably blow your own brains out when you reach up to push the hair out of your eyes. Short hair, barrettes, headbands, hair spray--something! Even bangs. But you cannot run around with a gun in your hands while your movie star hair keeps blowing into your eyes. It's just silly.
Yes, I get distracted easily....
Contrary to popular belief mankind evolved eyebrows, not to keep water / dust out of the eyes, but to communicate silently across the Savannah whilst hunting. I think eyebrows are an important facial feature, especially for actors / actresses. Their movement communicates subtleties not express within the dialogue. A large percentage of communication comes form non verbal gestures. Botox is an addition, modern problem for actors and the natural eyebrow movement.

Were the successful hunters the ones who could move their left and right eyebrows separately? :-) Because I can't do that! My niece is great at that, and I told her she should do that in every audition. I have pale eyebrows that don't do much, suitable only for agrarian life!
I suppose if the antelope & zebras came at them from East & West, that would be extremely useful.
