Filmmaking / Directing : Kids acting regulation in the US by Emmanuel Sapolsky

Hi we are planning a new Chinese series with my partner shot abroad and we are torn apart between doing it in Paris or NyC. One of the key elements is that it involves a 5 year old kid as one of the actors. French law is rather strict on hours and school days shoot. Does anyone knows what is the American law like ?
