Writer does a great job of breaking down numbers such as genre's which score the highest, most common problems among amateur screenplays, etc. It's interesting to see the breakdown and could help some. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/how-data-can-help-you-write-a-better... Enjoy...
Doh! Updated with URL. :)
The graphic at the top is cute. It says that Juno, The Wrestler, and Social Network were discovered on The Black List, then the entire article is about blcklst.com, where amateurs can upload their scripts for review. Very easy to get the impression that Aaron Sorkin just went and uploaded his script and had it "discovered by producers". And you can too!
Statistics are always interesting, but no major surprises here. However, with that said, I did enjoy seeing that "period drama" received a high number of reviews and was in the higher score range. Of course, these statistics are a snap shot from a period (March - July, 2014) -- numbers will shift or change somewhat over time... The percentages most new writers should pay attention to are the ones found in the graph "Most Common Problems with Amateur Screenplays." Those numbers are certainly telling and rarely change. :)
