Introduce Yourself : Aloha Internet and Stage32 by Jeff Birdsall

Hello out there! My name is Jeff and I currently live in San Francisco. I majored in Digital Filmmaking at a small liberal arts college on the east coast, now I am out here just bouncing around, trying to eat it all up. I started writing little sketches after graduation and completely fell in love with seeing content that I had written being acted out and becoming a thing for people to see. I know that after the whole film making process from start to finish, things end up a lot different than where they started on the page, but I still think it is exciting to be a part of the creative process. I have entered one contest so far with a Bob's Burgers spec script as well as an original pilot. I am working on tackling my first feature length screenplay, which I am learning is quite the undertaking. I have been reading Robert McKee's "Story" while enduring the brainstorming and outlining process. I read a lot of the discussions on Stage32 as well as SimplyScripts.com. My goal this year is to complete a first draft of a feature length script. LIke everything else in this world, life gets in the way and the biggest issue has been finding quality time to focus and work away. I think a realistic goal would be to wake up an extra hour or so before work and witting what I can while my brain is fresh from sleep. It may make for some long days, but I feel that if I can punch out close to an hour a day of writing time, a year is a reasonable goal to get a draft finished. I am looking forward to updating my website with some shorts and the stuff I have completed in the past for some more review. I greatly enjoy reading other people stuff too! Let's all keep writing, eh?
