Crowd funding

Hello, We are about to make our third feature length movie. The first one was with tv cogeco and the second one we did on a very low budget ($3000). Does anyone have any advise on how to approach crowd funding and what type of levels are generally most sought after by donars? we are looking to get around $75, 000 to help cover the costs of actors, props, costumes, equipment, food. Any tips on creating a successful campaign are greatly appreciated. We are thinking of going with Indiegogo as they have the flex plan. We are shooting a horror movie. We had some friends help us yesterday so we have a trailer we are going to but on our crowd funding page to give a glimpse of the movie :) thank you in advance for any and all help :)

Hey Kristina, this is Beth from the Stage 32 team. I just wanted to let you know I moved your post from Development to Financing / Crowdfunding, as it fits much better there. Let me know if you have any questions, and all the best to you!

hey beth thank you. I have been watching videos on crowd funding and learning lots but are there any that you would recommend? I am also signed up for the webinar with Steve Desmond in a few weeks. no resources I have the better off my campaign will be! thank you for the help

Hi Kristina! Yes, the webinar with Steve Desmond will be helpful. Also, check out "On Stage with RB." RB's webinars are free and are available on demand. He's quite knowledgeable about crowd funding and often discusses the subject in his webinars. Perhaps peruse through them. Hopefully there's some additional information there that will further help you. I wish you the best with your project! :) https://www.stage32.com/webinars/on-stage-with-rb

Hey Kristina, it's SO great you're signed up for the webinar - I think it will be extremely beneficial for you! Do you have an idea yet which crowdfunding platform you're going to use?

Hi Kristina. My advice is you need 2-3 months to build up the momentum with the media before you release your campaign video.Google the top media influencers that you think would be ideal then you can contact them and send them pr news releases. Be creative with your marketing.marker every single day as much as possible. Best of luck!

we are thinking indiegogo, but we have looked at kick starter as well. so anything could happen. we probably won't release our actual crowd funding campaign until September. I am signed up for Steve's class in 2 weeks and we are working on our trailer for the crowd funding. we have some ideas of little teaser to gain some exposure before we start the crowd funding :) we are trying to be as creative as we can to show what we are capable of... I have been watching as many videos as I can from this site and reading articles and YouTube has been a lot of help. I feel like I am obsessed because its like oh free time more crowd funding videos lol

IMHO your on the right track but stay away from those boring 'siting in a room" dead heads Get out walk show sets maybe even locations people working on set etc cameras in the back ground I know some people might think this is distracting but you might be surprised how much behind the scenes stuff people find interesting - I have turned off many videos that just show two people talking and from what I have read so have many others - you need to generate excitement curiosity things people want to see leave them hanging wanting more (but get your point across "we need money")

Kristina Garant

yah so far we have gathered some friends willing to help us and we have shot some stuff from the movie as a teaser trailer... won't be same people in real movie coz we will have auditions and go with people who are beat for role but it helps to be different and get interest from horror fans! we showed one friend who wasn't there as feedback and she said she liked it and it was scary ;) so here's hoping once we get the audio redone at a better quality its an awesome trailer :) would you say no talking at all or should we still have a bit of talking to explain the project on top of the trailer?

Monserrate Pagan Jr

This is a tough call if the trailer shows the highlights of the movie then I would start with u or someone on a set explaining that you need funds this person should be an actress and show fear then roll the trailer at the end another plead for money and again show the actress running off screen scared yelling for help. (sample dialog: actress ; so please help us get this story out, I don't have much time action: scared shaking money in her hand actress; this is not enough please help us action: dark shadow actress react - starts to run - lights out - actress: a very very loud scream (you can enhance in post) Let me know what you think Tito Anchorage Alaska

that's interesting

When I get around to making our trailer you will see something similar
