Filmmaking / Directing : Can Stage32 help? by Kevin T. Morales

Can Stage32 help?

I posted my project here to find talented, ambitious folks who want to make films. I know they exist and I've even talked to a few. But a large percent of the people applying really need help on how to apply for crew and creative positions. What to do, and what NOT to do. Maybe Stage32 could figure out how to give people help on what to do before they apply to positions on people's projects. Right now, I don't know if I would post a project here again, and certainly not for some positions. Right now, the traditional ways of finding crew, and below-the-line positions and dept. heads is still the way to go.

Do like the casting agencies used to do with the poor headshots and CV's, into the black bag and out to the curb.. In your case, the recycle bin, just a click or drag 'n drop away. Did you have a posting on the jobs board? Did I somehow miss it? What crew positions are you looking to fill? Paid or un-paid?

Amanda Toney

Hey Kevin, That's a great idea for a future class..... Have you tried networking in the lounge or perusing the Introduce Yourself Lounge to find talent?

Kevin T. Morales

My project is posted in jobs, J.D. Feel free to check it out. Positions are paid. But experience is necessary. Shannon: I did put a post in the lounge. It's not that I think the project is getting exposure. I'm just a little put off by some of the response. Very few people actually have the skill set or experience to execute the positions I'm hiring for, which I understand if someone doesn't have experience, but there are people on this site who are listing job titles they have no business claiming. I guess I should say there are a lot of applicants for dept. head position when these are production assistant level folks, which is still a stretch for some of them. And there's nothing with that level of experience, but own up to it.

For some reason, I'm not seeing it. Yes, I've tons of experience, have a look.

JD Hartman

Ah, in pre-production. Dp is bring his own crew, Gaffer/Grip/Camera/etc.?

Kevin T. Morales

D.P. coming from L.A. with his own camera. Hiring local gaffer/grip/camera asst. etc.

JD Hartman

Okay I understand. Your project in Jobs has no listing from Gaffer/Grip. My CV is attached to my profile, should you choose to pass it onto your DP. Thanks.

Kevin T. Morales

Ha. Yeah. I will.
