http://la-screenwriter.com/2015/08/21/to-live-in-la-or-not-the-screenwri... Here's my take on that subject: I lived in LA most of my life and now I don’t. Here’s my take on life as an aspiring screenwriter. • First and foremost, it’s about the writing. Don’t flog the same script for five years; especially if it’s your first one. The more you write, the better you get. The better you get, the better your chances of attracting interest. Write, whether you feel inspired or not. I recently finished a screenplay that I began months earlier for an interested director. Though we couldn’t come to a contractual agreement, I still finished the script. When it gets down to the nitty gritty, the more product you have to work with, the better chance you have of success. • Make as many contacts you can. Answer every ad you can for someone looking for screenplays or a scriptwriter. Those most of them will lead nowhere, occasionally, you will be surprised who’s on the other end. I’ve had several good things come out of doing this. • Work hard to build relationships. They will be the difference between success and failure. • Throw a lot of positive energy into the ether and be a “can do” kind of guy/gal. • Achieving success is about persistence and it’s often a numbers game. And to quote the great Gretzky, “you’ll miss on hundred percent of the shots you don’t take.” • Living in LA will probably not be the determining factor in whether you succeed or fail. Being an incredibly good storyteller and having the drive and tenacity to succeed is what will win the day.
This was a good read, thanks for sharing!
