I guess it depends on what drama or intriguing story has followed them through the ages. Look at the HIGHLANDER series and films. The more "human" you make them the more relatable they could be the the viewer. I love stories on immortal beings. The more grounded they are to reality the more I pay attention. Even the show FOREVER. I can empatjize if they have gone through normal issues over the course of their existance.
