Hello Stage 32! My name is Caleb Barker

Hello Stage 32! My name is Caleb Barker, and I’m currently based in Lynchburg, VA. I feel in love with the film industry at a very young age. My first camera was a cereal box with a paper towel tube taped to the side. My first film was a stop-motion LEGO movie put together using the very version of iMovie on an original iMac. My first experience on a film set was when I was about ten years old. I had gone on a weekend trip to a Civil War reenactment in Virginia with my church’s boys group. My dad and I walked around the camp and noticed a film crew. We talked with them for a little bit and learned that they just finished a few scenes for “God’s and Generals”. Stepping off that film set confirmed for me that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. After being freed from high school, I interned at my church doing video production. I learned the whole process of film production from lighting, cinematography, sound, and editing the hard way, which is often the best way. Through working on a variety of projects ranging from kids camp videos, interviews, documentary projects, and promotional videos I learned a lot by doing, something I couldn’t get from a typical classroom. I am now studying Cinematic Arts at Liberty University. What I love about the program is that it takes a “learn by doing” approach to film. If you are in the DMV area and need help of any kind on your production, let me know and maybe we can work together!

Good to meet you here Caleb. Learn by doing is the only way. The best with your projects.
