Distribution : Looking for self distribution best practices for interviews by Andreas Jaritz

Hi guys! I am a producer from Austria writing on medium about indie film distribution and marketing (https://medium.com/@andreasjaritz). I am looking for best practices of indie movies whose makers went successfully along the self-distribution (at least partly) road. Do you guys know any filmmakers who successfully self-promoted their movies? I would like to do interviews with the makers to find out what their success formula was, how they promoted self organized screening tours, how they leveraged social media or what kind of good old public relations activities worked for them. I was successfully self-distributing (digital/theatrical) my very first movie as a producer and now I want to find out about other people's strategies and share them with the community.
