Getting out there

As a playwright one of our main goals is having the people know your work and I must be honest many writers I have come to know in some way are doing what actors do and that's wait for someone to notice and sit on their talent until. Now if it's one thing I have found out over the years as an artist it's that to be discovered means to be seen. In the world of playwrights being seen means getting out there and putting on projects that are thought provoking and that demands attention. For me that started with my first fringe fest and when the opportunity came doing the Cool Stories The following year. Doing cool stories was a jump for me as I took my first venture out side of Philadelphia and it went well. The actors prepared themselves mentally for a different experience in New York with the understanding that to be noticed as the character means you have done the job and it was meet was applause and praise for them. Going to IthacaFringe is something I knew I needed to do for me as opportunities are about making them my belief is that doing the festival can be scary but in the end will prove that I belong here. For me that meant not being afraid of the unknown but willing to step out and see what happens for all of us. Well wish me luck getting on the bus's do the shows in 2 days...
