Ciao :), We are Yurj Buzzi (Puglia) and Najma Bhatti (London) a directing duo based in London. After fifteen years in the advertising industry, we are making our first short International film "The Refusal.” It’s an incredible story about Franca Viola, a young girl, who was kidnapped and raped at age 17. The perpetrator offered his hand in marriage afterwards - what was known as a ‘marriage of repair’ in Italy at the time - which would have resulting in nullifying the crime. Franca refused and took the rapist and his accomplices to court which was an unprecedented move, and managed to obtain a conviction. The law regarding marriages of repair was changed in Italy in 1981. We have the pleasure to have on board BAFTA award winner Andrea Morricone (Cinema Paradiso) who loved the screenplay and will be composing the music.
