Formatting Question

I 'm writing a scene with two people,in different locations having a phone conversation. Would the following formatting work? The phone on the desk rings, everyone stops and stares at it. Joe picks up the receiver. Joe Yeah? The shadow of Jill on the phone . INTERCUT between them. Jill Joe?

Pierre Langenegger

Intercut is fine, but you're missing some info to make it work properly. After Joe picks up the receiver and answers, use a slug for Jill's place to show her first words then you can use intercut.

I don't understand "The shadow of Jill on the phone". What does this mean? How would this look?

Doug Nelson

ITERCUT works fine. I just shot one using a split screen to introduce two characters in their different locations. I don't understand Jill's shadow when I can put Jill and her shadow on her half of the screen.
