[QUESTION] Has anyone purchased an Academic Version of Final Draft for someone else?

Does the academic version have to be registered to the name/e-mail of the student/teacher? I can save someone $120 using my validation link. But I'm sure this person isn't going to want my name/e-mail attached to it.

Thanks.

Doug Nelson

Why not just call Final Draft and ask them. (I think I know the answer and I think you do too.)

Humphrey Gilbert

Well, I know the ethical answer. That's not the answer I'm looking for, though. I'm a flawed human being and I accept that.

Raymond J. Negron

I have Final Draft and am content. Just start writing! Will ya!

Humphrey Gilbert

I understand and agree with everything you said. To answer your question...To save $120. I don't need to be told why I'm wrong. I'm quite aware. My resolve hasn't changed, however.

Has anyone had a student/teacher purchase the Academic version of the software for them before?

Beth Fox Heisinger

No. One must provide academic status verification for oneself. FD has a list of ways to qualify: valid student ID scan, class schedule, registration receipt, letter of enrollment, etc. And, sorry, it's just not cool to try to take advantage of a lower price specifically made available for actual students. Resolve or not.

So you want to use pirated software to write your script? I'm guessing after you've put in all that hard work writing the script, you want to be paid? Or will it be okay for someone to just copy paste your script and take credit for it?

Think about that for a bit, I doubt it will change your mind, until someone steals from you, then maybe, just maybe.

Dan Guardino

Erica. That is not pirate software because the software is legit. It is the person stealing it that isn't legit.
