Hello, everyone.
My name is Travis Heermann, and I'm a screenwriter and novelist from Denver, Colorado.
I fell in love with writing screenplays about eight years ago, so I pulled time away from my fiction writing and freelance gigs to pursue it. I'm unsure how to classify myself here, in that I'm not a 'new' writer. I've been doing it professionally for going on twenty years. My screenplays have won some awards, but I don't representation or production credits.
I've written four feature-length screenplays, three in collaboration and one solo, plus a number of shorts. The two horror screenplays have won a few awards and made a few finalist lists. My friend jim pinto and I wrote a horror-western screenplay called DEATH WIND that won the Cinequest Screenplay contest in 2012 (that was a HUGE moment). My horror-steampunk script WHERE THE DEVIL RESIDES won Best Horror/Fantasy Screenplay at the Famous Monsters Silver Scream Festival in February of this year.
Of course I'm looking for representation/career management for my writing efforts, and that ultimate of brass rings for the aspiring screenwriter, a movie deal.
Outside of writing, I dabble in blues guitar, motorcycles, podcasting, and teach science fiction literature at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
I've got a screenplay bubbling up through the Austin Film Festival rankings, so I'm hoping for a finalist slot that will justify a trip down there this year.
