Hello. This is David. I am happy this "Introduce Yourself" weekend is already upon us again. And I hope you've all grown and been successful in the industry. Anyway, I wrote a full-length film script; and I believe this is a unique story that needs to be told; I know that every writer feels like their story needs to be told, but I think this is a unique and fun story, worthy of audiences. I am perhaps plagued with an unconventional attitude, which is that I am not so certain how much I believe in experts these days, since when you do enough research, you will find that even some of the experts disagree on things. And so, I want to believe the people that say that if all the stars line up, even an unknown man can get a feature film produced. It is true that I could probably come up with 40K or $50,000 if I tried really hard, in order to pay a crew; but of course I would feel better about the right person(s) simply believing in my script, and trusting it enough that they are willing to get it made and then accept deferred pay when it makes money. Hey David, I understand the need to be validated by the industry experts but if I thought I could raise $50,000 I would do it. I would more prefer to take control of my own project and produce it instead of waiting for someone's permission to do it.
You might also want to consider that there are plenty of professional people who would be willing to get in involved in a good project at little or no fee. You may get your budget to a more manageable amount.
If you plan to submit your scripts to studios, I would recommend getting some other eyes on it before you send it out.
Congratulations on completing a script. You are actually a head of the game, compared to most writers who only think about writing.
