Or perhaps thought about it. LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, BEN HUR, STAR WARS. CAST THOUSANDS, 3 HOUR RUNNING TIME, EVERY SPECIAL EFFECT AVAILABLE.
REALIZE IT IS A FANTASY QUESTION AND NONE OF HAS 100 MILLION IN OUR PIGGY BANK. BUT LET'S HAVE SOME FUN. ON YOUR MARKS. GET SET. SHARE!!!
Katya-Yeah 7 hours would have turned me off to. Now if it is Opera and Wagner than that is another story.
I think it would be cool if the story warranted it. If I had a story that would fit into the epic category, I would write it as a novel first. Then if it was received positively I would convert it into a screenplay. One question; when people create an epic do you think that was their original intention or do you think it just evolved into one as the story unfolded?
Dan- Look forward to seeing 'GLASS HOUSE'.
Our screenplay EON is best described as "Epic", although we avoid listing it as such in the genres and descriptions.
Our plan is to flesh it out into a novel and get it published, to garner production interest through established readership.
Nope. Just a trilogy. I mean a stand alone movie because you should never "pitch" a movie as a trilogy intent. LOL! Oh hey Dan, you too.
Yup. Harold Godwinson was an epic. I should post it here. However, I think it's far too epic for a noob like me to make at this point. Too expensive. I need more of a track record before I can make that sort of thing happen.

And...someone did it, hahaha!! Love that.
Yes, early on I wrote a big budget period piece called The Immortal Jack the Ripper. I have another horror thriller called The Willing that's part The Grey and part the Stanford Experiment Prison Experiment story that take place on an abandoned military base in New Mexico. That one is a fairly big cast and lots of FX.
I was thinking of writing a series about the Stuart kings. Then I thought it might be too like The Tudors.
Shadowlands is an epic. It's a tentpole sc-fi western. First screenplay is part of a trilogy that introduces us to the edges of space known at the Shadowlands, to a being known as a Shadowman and some unlikely heroes fighting against forces much larger than they realize. It's large in scope and universe to the degree that multiple stories could be written and told about the Shadowlands. Film, Series, Comics, etc. and of course Merchandising.
Now I just gotta finish this new second (or is it third) rewrite.

Glad everyone has an epic in mind or in the works. I have one also. It's called Liberty One and it is a Space Adventure.
