Packaging a film

Hey Stage32... I'm working on a feature film project that I'm looking to package. Any advice, connections to agencies that provide this service, or information you can provide would be very helpful. Thanks a bunch.

Kay Luke

Packaging isn't a service. It's something Agents do to sell projects (and screw writers). An Agent brings you in on the package, not the other way around. And Agents don’t openly snipe each other, so they create packages from within their agency’s roster. At least in the light of day.

I’m betting what you want is an Attachment. You want a certain actor or director or someone? For that, you need to approach that person, or their Agent. That person’s Agent will deal with packaging the sale of the script with the Actor attached.

http://www.ramolawpc.com/packaging-sales-services/ Here's a pretty good link to this firm. Several of the folks listed in the link that specialize in packaging indie films are available through the pitch sessions here. I think they may charge a "read" fee if you are just coming to them on your own. That's pretty standard (and small) but bear in mind that 99% of packaging firms charge retainers for their services and then bill against the retainer. (They are almost all lawyers.)

I don't do Indie scene anymore, just Studio Systems, so I bow to John L & Jamie S on that.

John, Jamie, and Kay thanks for your input. I will look into the link you sent.
