I've posted before asking what kind of music you all like to listen to WHEN you're writing ...but what about that magical moment BEFORE you're writing? You know, when you hear a particular song, and it juices your inner screenwriter to buckle down and put some words on the page? You probably have more than one, but I'd love to know if a particular one pops to mind right now.
The inspiration for this post? I've just listened to 'Go Your Own Way' by Fleetwood Mac. While not explicitly intended for the ears of a writer (perhaps), the equally inspiring and heartbreaking lyrics are all too relatable..
Love. Art. Struggle — three words bound inseparably.

I'm currently listening to AHAs MTV unplugged for the screenplay I'm currently working on. I tend to listen to Dido or something that is none invasive when I'm actually writing though. I like the ambient distraction from outside interference.

Back when I was screenwriting more prominently I went through a chillwave era phase lol which the genre has since gone pretty but brought out a lot of inspiration I.e. Neon Indian, Toro Y Moi and the Driver (2011)!soundtrack

I actually don't have an answer to this :/ Music is a big part of my life and what set me out on the path to writing years ago as a poet before I found a love for screenwriting. I can't explain it, me and music just...clicks. I just know what song to listen at a particular time before I write, and it can range from hip hop, to rock, to jazz, to classical, to j-pop, to guitar renditions...At this moment right now though, I'm listening Boogie "Skydive" from his album "Everythings For Sale". The album is a masterpiece!
Shout out to Remie Senyonjo for listening my fav rapper-Em! Big up yuhself innuh Remie (had to switch to my native slang a minute lol)

There are certain albums I'll listen to to get me in the mood for various things. Writing is no different. Just like going to the gym. You know it's going to be work, it would be easier NOT to do it, but putting on the right music has such a magical way of transforming your mood so you can tackle difficult things. Suddenly, you look forward to the challenge and WANT to climb that mountain :)

Ooh. Love this prompt, Phil. I have whole universes inspired by a song, or an album. Lol reminds me ‘Take These Broken Wings”- inspired this YA novel I have yet to sit and write. Or “Captain Of Her Heart”. You know you loved it. The novel is done in my head and half done on the page. The Cars album Heartbeat City. These all prompted my earlier stories (yep 80’s were so juicy). These days, I hear story when I’m walking in the Forest. It has its own symphony that lets story come through clear and full. And when sitting to write, I do require complete silence. But I must say, doing the dishes with some great music in the background Always gets creative juices going. Thank all the Goddesses and Gods that ever were for musicians!
