Producing : Airbnb by Vasco Saraiva

Airbnb

Hello, has anyone been using airbnb's as a location to film? Just looking to listen to some experiences. And has the associate producer made properties available for free? Thinking of getting an bnb to film a short in it.

Very creative!!!

There are some who do but most Airbnb owners don't want filming at their residence. Come with $$$, I am sure you can work out a deal. Last year, we shot 2 interior days in a NYC brownstone. The Airbnb home owner charged us extra and he was there watching us to make sure the crew don't wreck his place. We had about 12-15 people cast & crew, and we covered the hardwood floors w/ cardboard. Also paid for a cleaning service after wrapping.

Ok... was thinking of paying less than the asking price in order to make him a producer heheheh. And the cast and crew for this one I'm thinking, will be smaller 4/5 max. But yeah, I'll be prepared to pay more and take those extra precautions. I'm wondering about hotels as well...?

If you want to film, use peerspace.com Airbnb has it's own complications and unless the host owns the property it is not legal in many places to do a short term rental for any reason. So it's important as a traditional host/guest for both to maintain a low profile about the whole thing. Having a film shoot on your location is anything but low profile.

One more thing. We had production insurance

Lindbergh E Hollingsworth

Adding to what Dan mentioned, first you take photos of the residence so you know how everything looks and where everything goes. This will help to avoid any dramas between the owner and film crew.

M L. yeah, I would love if Peerspace was available in Portugal. If anyone knows of any alternatives, a bit more international, please let me know.

Vasco Saraiva

Thanks Katie for the reply, that is the kind of experience I want to experience heheh With the Hotels I seem to remember someone telling me that you can never really do it... Maybe I'll try with a photoshoot first

Vasco Saraiva

Dan and Lindbergh thank you as well... insurance and leaving the place better than it was, got it.

Sounds like a liability! Certainly not without authorization, agreements, etc. of course. Better filming sites I would think.

Air... bnb...IDK.

Air?

Well isn't that anywhere we'd like to be?

Bed to breakfast... what the alluring common uncommon scene.

Or: are you too late?

Vasco Saraiva

Jack, yeah... maybe is best to re think it. thanks

Vasco Saraiva

Michael, Not sure I get what you mean.
