On Writing : Details by David Tenenbaum

Details

So I'm working on my latest book and the scene I'm writing involves two thugs approaching the driver's side of my protagonist's car. But then I wasn't sure if it was the "driver's side" or just the "drivers side." And as I was looking up this oh-so-crucial point, I began wondering, "Is this what I signed up for when I decided to become a writer: Worrying about whether my protagonist is about to get shot on the "driver's side" or the "drivers side" of his car. I also began wondering if having an agent or a press-published novel means you use or don't use possessives whenever you feel like it because you're a real writer and so people will buy your book whether you use the correct punctuation or not.

Having been published for years, I have to say your worry is not unfounded, but remember regardless of what you write and how you publish it - you need to have an editor. You can certainly message me and I'm happy to give you some 'publishing' feedback :)
