Screenwriting : What brings us Santa Claus? by Stevan Šerban

What brings us Santa Claus?

On the big screen, we can hardly see great indie films unless we live in a big city, but that's why streaming services buy movies at festivals and thanks to them we can watch them in our own home on the mountain!

On the other hand, worldwide audiences are angry on Netflix because it restricted the screening to "The Irishman" for only two weeks and immediately released it to his channel?

Good or bad for screenwriters, directors, young actors?

Studios-distributors-theater owners-authors. What is your opinion?

Stevan Šerban

When a movie goes to theaters, most people can watch it, but the profits are divided into many parts. But not all movies can be shown in cinemas, only those who make money!

The proven profit formula is science fiction. This genre is understandable in both Zimbabwe and France. Check out the list of the top ten box office films! There are about 60 markets on average. From almost very significant, if not the largest, is China's market!

Where do you think your movie should be shown? In cinemas or streaming services?

Nathan Smith

Some movies are made for the big screen (blockbusters) that are full of nothing but special effects and sound that'll knock your hair back. Others (indies) don't benefit much from the big screen other than the fact that the Academy still goes by the archaic rule that a movie has to be released into X amount of theaters for X amount of time in order to be considered for Oscar voters. If you want your movie to reach its largest audience possible, then streaming is where you should be.

Craig D Griffiths

Cinemas want ever seat full due to the high cost of running a cinema. So blockbusters are the safe option.

But this will eventually lead to their death as well. The Potato Famine Ireland happened because they relied on a single variety of potato. When that species of potato becomes diseased it wiped them out. When the hunger for Blockbusters goes, they will not have channels for other films (just an opinion).

DVD sales saw the explosions of indie film. This has become streaming. Netflix only shows the product in cinemas to qualify for awards. Winning an award is the cheapest marketing. For now an Oscar has credibility. How knows in the future.

I love everything. The more opportunities the better.
