Selling ideas

Karen E Ross told me about the Producing Lounge, so I would like to post a question: As I am new in developing ideas, I would like to ask if anyone around here has some advice about how to sell ideas / concepts to TV stations or other distribution platform. I am based in Germany, but would like to know about how this selling works around the world, so feel free to comment or message me.

Hey David Goettfert great to have you here! Great question and no two ways are the same. Many times networks or distributors will want a capable showrunner and production company attached to the project in order to take it forward. So getting a showrunner and a producer is a big first step. That will open a lot of doors. The other thing that one must consider is which networks or distributors are best suited for the material. If you would like to speak with some executives, producers, or managers who have sold series to networks you can send them your script and speak with them directly for either 30-minutes or a full hour. If you would like further guidance, feel free to reach out to me directly at j.mirch@stage32.com - I am the Director of Script Services and have also previously developed and sold shows to NBC, CBS, Lifetime, and others.
