Describing the abstract

Are there any tools or tips out there for help in describing complex and/or abstract actions? For instance, If I want Character A to simply show "well, that figures" on screen, how do you describe that in an action line without having them say "Well, that figures"?

Learn to keep it actionable and allow the Actors to do their jobs, The action goes in the action lines - not a parenthetical. Like; his eyes roll heavenwards, he shrugs. You may/may not want some exponential dialog.
