I watch a lot more animated content than I would admit but the ones that have changed how I approach my designs and visual storytelling are "Love, Death, Robots", "Into The Spiderverse", "Monster House", "Next Gen", and "Over The Moon." Considering we have an interest in animation, I'm wondering what that list looks like for everyone else.
My list is Terry Gilliam/ Monty Python animation, South Park, Twice Upon A Tiime, UPA and Yellow Submarine
I still find most Miyazaki movies to be completely awe-inspiring, almost sacred lol. For me it's about characters and story much more than visual style. I didn't really like the visual style of 'Tokyo Godfathers' for example, yet the movie hits the feels for me every time lol.
'A Letter to Momo', 'Grave of the Fireflies', 'Whisper of the Heart'' all hit that emotional button beautifully.
