Introduce Yourself : Jambo From Kenya by Stephen Maina

Jambo From Kenya

Hello world! I'm a script writer and film producer from Nairobi, Kenya. I am also a computer scientist and software developer who built an app that streams short films for free at https://imara.tv/ to enable the Government of Kenya educate the public about health using entertainment. What's even better, the short films are crowdsourced from talented but unemployed youth in Kenya who collaborate online and offline to harness their artistic and digital skills to produce original films that earn them a regular income from advertising to create sustainable jobs in the local film industry. I am excited to be helping showcase films from Africa which have historically being absent from the global stage. I am looking for strategic partners with the technical knowledge and financial resources to produce low to medium budget films and series set in Africa for a global audience. See my loglines for some stories we are looking to produce. Looking forward to collaborating with like-minded people to bring African stories to the world!

Emmanuel Gitonga

Amazing Information Mr. Stephen Maina. My name is Emmanuel Gitonga. First can I say that as a young adult based here in LA while freelancing and marketing my work has been nothing short of a learning curve, but the best things that arise from platforms such as these are the incredible people one meets along the way. You are by far exceeding them, being from Kenya I would begin to wonder how the Kenyan youth are actually able to Market their skillsets especially in the film industry, apart from going the traditional route, your space not only helps them deliver content but also ensure that they are well sustained in the long run, a staple ground break technology especially in the Kenyan Film Entertainment Industry, which is only bound to see a spiking rise in the global markets as more Kenyans especially the youth begin to diversify our skillsets and talents. I cannot wait to delve more into your work and discover the content gold rush that my fellow artists in Kenya are doing. Thank you for posting and Looking forward to connecting more in the near future. God Speed and Endelea Vivyo Hivyo.

Emmanuel Gitonga asante sana! It's a great time for Africa to tell her stories not only to create jobs for the youth but also change the negative mainstream narrative about our continent. As long as we let others tell our stories, our views will never be known. And the world is hungry for authentic African voices so this is our time. If we put together our skills, resources and networks, we can do something great. Looking forward to collaborating with you to tell these stories.
