Hello fellow Stage32’ers! I’m a screenwriter/director with a focus & passion for character-driven thriller & horror stories, especially gothic horror ones. I have a pilot in that very genre that I’ve been workshopping for a couple months now. I’ve got nearly a dozen feature-length screenplays ranging between period horror to modern thrillers under my belt. In the fall I’ll be releasing a short GH film that serves as a concept piece for the aforementioned pilot. Last little tid bit is that I’m a history scholar, an avid student of Shakespeare, a classical literature buff & a diehard metalhead. I’m a weird person, I’ve been living an adventurous life & I love to tell stories! If you want to talk shop or just chat, hit me up! I’m eager to get to know this community!

How's it going, Timothy Van Mieghem? I write Thriller and Horror as well. Do you ever write Shakespeare and classical literature in your scripts?

Hey Maurice! It’s going well, my man. Enjoying my weekend! How about yourself? As for if I write Shakespeare and classical literature into my scripts, I don’t. I do take heavy influence from them. Many of my characters, their relationships, arcs, flaws, goals and obstacles are in some form or another inspired by certain aspects of these classic stories. Are there any writers whose work influences your own?

I'm doing fine, Timothy Van Mieghem. Working on different projects this weekend. I'm actually not sure if any writers influence my writing. How's it going workshopping your pilot?

Maurice Vaughan, the workshopping is going smoothly! For awhile I was getting feedback that helped me through a handful of drafts. Now I’m at the point where most of the feedback I’m given is either a compliment or a suggestion to try to boost a preexisting idea. I did get a recent suggestion for a whole new teaser that I feel drastically raises the stakes, so I’m working on that now! How about yourself? What kind of projects are you working on? And as for whether you might be influenced by other writers; for me it’s a wonderful question to dwell on to see how as a writer I might have been influenced and formed. I learn a lot about myself as a writer when self-reflecting this way. If the question intrigues you I recommend thinking on it!

That's great that you're at the point where you're getting compliments and suggestions to boost preexisting ideas. It sounds like the pilot is almost ready. What's your plan for the pilot after you finish rewriting it?
I'm working on a short script. I'm also waiting to hear back from a producer who wants me to rewrite two feature scripts.
