I am a writer based in India, but am working with a few people based in the US and Canada. I was wondering about what are the industry trends with regards to payments to writers who are brought on board an existing project.
So I am not unionised (since I'm in India) the assignment is feedback based on my expertise and re-write post that. I just want to know what is a fair amount to quote for this in the US/Canada. the Industry standard in India is very different, so just wanted an Idea so as to not sell myself short or over-quote my producers
You're welcome, Shraddha Shrivastava. I've seen script feedback prices under $100, and I've seen prices over $200. I usually charge less than $100 for script feedback. It depends on how long the script is. If I'm giving feedback on a long script (a script over 120 pages), I'll charge more. If I'm giving feedback on a short script, I won't charge much.
I'm not sure what "editing post" means. Does it mean rewriting a script?
As mentioned before, pay depends on different things. What you can do is quote a price that you feel comfortable with, then see what the people who are based in the US and Canada say. If they say it's too high, you could negotiate a lower price.
The Writers Guild of America has a list of rates that apply to most every scenario that are always good to reference. But if you’re not in the guild or repped you may not get those exact rates but they’ll give you a sense of what writers get paid for your given scenario. Ultimately, it’s what you and they agree to so Maurice has the right idea - give them a quote you feel good about, gauge their reaction and negotiate from there.

Shraddha Shrivastava I agree with B A Mason. Pay depends on different things. So, you'll be giving feedback on a script and rewriting it?

Yea there are 1000 different variables involved on how much your rate could be. Are you editing? Giving feedback? Writing the scripts for them?
