Hi everyone. I got started creating machinima back in 2005 in the very early YouTube days. Now I'm doing a combination of directing and cinematography work and own a production company in Atlanta, GA, USA. I've always heard great things about Stage32 and am hoping to dive deeper into screenwriting; so I thought this would be a great community to be in.

Nathan, congrats on forming your own prodco and getting actual work as a DP/director. In my view that is the hardest part. Now you can gather the practical know-how to actually produce content. What is your approach to screenwriting? To shape an idea you yourself will realize under the umbrella of your company?

Christopher Maes That is such a powerful question. Probably 80% of the projects just come to us and it's a matter of finding what emotionally resonates with me, and if it's not there, figuring out how to make it there. The other 20%, which I take more of a proactive approach in, is to find inspiration in other mediums (art history, underground music, etc) and try to leverage that into film concepts in hopes to find some sort of originality that is more than creating films inspired by films.
