Finally Introducing Myself!

Greetings to the Stage 32 Community!! How can I help? What stories are you working on and trying to tell? I have 3 that I am currently developing for my company and I can help you with business affairs and business coaching. It’s something I have found to be important over the years and where I would find most of my discussions when I practiced law. It was the most enjoyable part of my career.

Looking forward to the adventure after lurking in the shadows

Maurice Vaughan

Great to meet you, Thaddeus B. Glad you stepped out of the shadows. I used to lurk too. Where did Calumet in Calumet MediaWorks come from?

Ashley Renée Smith

Thaddeus B, I'm so glad that you're putting yourself out there and introducing yourself to the community! You should definitely check out our Financing and Distribution Lounges where you can join discussions, pose questions that you may have, provide advice or insights, and share news/announcements that interest you.

You can find the lounge through the toolbar at the top of your browser window. Simply click on "Lounge", which will direct you to a new page listing all of the current lounges available to you. Then select "Distribution" or "Financing/Crowdfunding". I hope to see you over there!

Hi Maurice! Calumet is the nickname for the area of Northwest Indiana that I grew up in (minutes from Chicago). They call it the Calumet Region. The area was mostly steel mills and iron works and at one point the steel capital, producing more steel than Pittsburgh and Bethlehem, PA. That’s not the case anymore. Calumet is an Native American word for ceremonial pipe. Some people will call it a peace pipe, however, that would be too limiting. It was used for a variety of ceremonies.

Hello Ashley! Thank you! I will dive in and check out the other lounges!

Hi Thaddeus B! What all does your business affair and business coaching work? Also, shoot me an email at success@stage32.com when you're ready to get feedback on those scripts. I'd love to recommend some to you here on Stage 32 :)

Hi Emily! Thank you for the help in providing feedback on the screenplays. I could really use another set of eyes and I’m close to having a rough finished draft.

To answer your question on business affairs, it is similar to the business affairs departments in the major studios. It can be broadly or narrowly tailored based on need and budget. Simply, I can assist in dealmaking, advising, negotiating, structuring, and drafting development, production, distribution, rights acquisitions, and other agreements necessary for a filmmaker and their projects. I enjoy collaborating regularly with the filmmaker and their team to provide information, business advice, and consultation services relating to the projects.

As an extension, I found myself enjoying the “counseling “ part of my legal career more than anything. And every creative individual is in the business of entertainment. As a business coach. I can help creatives, one-on-one or with a team, to get them thinking about building a better business, help them be better business owners and managers, and even more confident in making business decisions. I can be a sounding board, a catalyst, that can guide and help shape and influence their career the same way an athlete needs a coach. I made a lot of mistakes professionally and I have a lot to share.

Emily, to clarify. I have several screenplays completed. I was referring to one in particular that I am eager to complete more than the others. It’s entitled “Legacy of the Hounds”.

That's an interesting backstory, Thaddeus B. I like titles that have double meanings. I try to think of them when I outline scripts. Now, a title with a triple meaning would be great!
