Introduce Yourself : Perfect Pitch by John Terlato

Perfect Pitch

I am an amateur author who had submitted a written pitch last weekend. I had the pitch read by many of my associates and had received positive feedback from them as well as from the producer I am now working with. Although the feedback was rated between 3 and 5, I was asked to use the proper format and include more details concerning the characters. I now fear that my one and one half page pitch will come dangerously close to being too long. What is the proper format and should I be penalized if I exceed the two page rule? Thanks in advance . I should also mention that I have a completed screenplay that is weighing heavily on getting my pitch approved.

Hi John Terlato - great to meet you. If you email the team at writerhelp@stage32.com, they'd be happy to send you the template for the two-page pitch. My understanding is that if the pitch is longer than two pages, the executive will stop reading. Best to fit their suggestions within that template format. Hope this helps!

John Terlato Maybe they just want more about the protagonist and antagonist, not supporting characters. What makes them interesting, and what are their stakes?
