Screenwriting taboo?

Hi all! I haven’t posted on here in a while but I’m currently working on a feature film script that is a drama but has self harm and physical abuse in it. It is also loosely based on real events. Should I include a trigger warning and a disclaimer in the script before submitting it to an open writing assignment? Any specific wording I should use? Thanks in advance!

For an OWA, I don't think you need to include this on the script or submission form BUT I would also shoot an email to contests@stage32.com and let them know so that they can ensure you get a reader who won't be triggered or affected. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness on this! And if you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me an email at success@stage32.com!

I personally wouldn't think that a trigger warning would be needed. If those themes are central to the story they would probably appear in your logline, even if they weren't then it would certainly be mentioned in your synopsis which any would be reader would look over before reading the script itself. Not to mention labeling it a drama provides a warning in it's own right, the reader would know that it's not going to be a light hearted script.

I think it would be a good idea to prepare the viewer.
