LGBT Psychological Thriller & other projects

Tired of stereotypical gay characters? Join my team! I'm working on getting my first feature film made - if the movies 'Memento' & 'Call Me By Your Name' could have a love-child with the Spanish TV series 'Smiley', the outcome would be "Pool Boy Blues". The script is both a sexy psychological thriller and also very funny. I have some of my celebrity actor friends on board for cameo roles, which should help with securing funding, but I'm keen to create a team that is predominantly made up of LGBT cast & crew, both on set and in post-production. I have 4 completed feature film scripts and one drama limited series ready to go. I made a short film for a competition 2 years ago and heard that one of the female judges described my film as being "too gay". Seriously. Has she ever described a film as being "too straight"? My characters weren't ashamed, depressed, miserable, hiding, dying, or any of the other usual Hollywood tropes that seem to appeal to mainstream producers. The same year I was nominated for best actor in a film that was about a gay man grieving his dead partner, and another film was nominated for best picture, was about 2 lesbians in a dystopian future who have their minds wiped after they find love. That seemed to prove my point that it's only films about unhappy LGBT characters that seem to garner mainstream Hollywood approval. So my goal is to create well-written films in which LGBT characters are focused on the things happening in their lives that are nothing to do with battling their inner demons over their sexuality. There problems/challenges are about the same things as straight characters. I have a BAFTA award winning director from the UK who LOVES my sitcom script & we're starting work on getting that produced in April 2024 once he's relocated to LA, so that'll be another project with a very diverse group of characters and whilst being somewhat farce-based is also going to deal with socio-political issues like the hysteria around bathrooms, books in schools, wealth inequality & the hypocrisy of religious people. If these ideas appeals to you, let me know and let's connect! All the best, Raymond-Kym Suttle

Thanks - I'm not quite at the hiring stage as I don't have a budget in place yet - I was hoping to just gage interest from producers at first to see if there's anyone here who's passionate about LGBT projects. As soon as I can start hiring with actual salaries I'll post on the links you supplied. Thanks!

You're welcome, Raymond-Kym Suttle. There are producers in the Browse Section too.
