Introduce Yourself : Saying "Yes" to Passion by Michi Batuule

Michi here - but you can call me Mitch or Chi Chi. I've been an aspiring screenwriter since I was 13 but growing up in an anti-arts household, I was never given the opportunity or encouraged to fully explore my passion.

I'm currently in medical school in South Africa and as I near the end and move closer to my potential life as a doctor, it has become impossible to deny my passion for writing. I'll admit I do not know the first thing about screenwriting in terms of formatting, getting exposure etc. and the only thing I know about the industry is the slim chance a nobody like me has of getting a single one of projects but I've got to try right?

With my stories, and most especially the characters, I try to break away from stereotypes and clichés as I feel true representation and diversity is still lacking in TV and movies today. For me, stories (especially the unique ones) haven't always been for a good laugh or to pass the time but have helped me understand people, myself and the world. My dream is for others to feel the same when they watch my work.

I have several plots of varying genres (drama, comedy, dystopian, fantasy etc.) for TV and film, including a 20-episode sitcom, that I'm in the process of writing into scripts. Hopefully, with the aid of Stage32, I'll get to share them on big and little screens
