Screenwriting : Turning a special story into something visual by Kieron Dowling

Turning a special story into something visual

As a writer of Australian science fiction and African adventure books, I have reached a point where my riotous imagination need to take the next step. My book Cactus Loop and the Moon was born from an experience in Kakadu National Park some years ago. I met a ranger. He showed me things hard to believe (full story in my bio). Anyway, I'm here to take a leap by posting the book's trailer (could not find a way of attaching it here, so I posted it separately). I would value any feedback and advice on how to get this story showcased. Many thanks!

Hi, Kieron Dowling. Welcome to the community. Stage 32 had a live Community Open House the other week. You can watch the recording here (www.stage32.com/education/products/stage-32-community-open-house-webcast). It'll help you navigate Stage 32 and connect with creatives and industry professionals.

Stage 32 also has a blog about navigating the platform and making connections: www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-successfully-navigate-the-stage-32-platform-...

Are you looking to turn your book into a screenplay/hire a screenwriter to or pitch your book to producers?

Kieron Dowling

Hi Maurice, just getting started on the site. Not sure of the direction but ultimately pitch, and build a screen play.

Ok, Kieron Dowling. I’m a Stage 32 Lounge Moderator. I wanted to let you know I moved your post from the Filmmaking/Directing Lounge to the Screenwriting Lounge since your post is more about pitching and screenwriting than filmmaking/directing. Let me know if you have any questions.

If you plan on turning your book into a screenplay yourself, here are two posts about adapting a book:

Stage 32 also has a webinar called "How to Adapt a Book Into a Film or Series" (www.stage32.com/education/products/how-to-adapt-a-book-into-a-film-or-se...).

If you want to hire a screenwriter to turn your book into a screenplay, you could post an ad on the Job Board (www.stage32.com/find-jobs).

If you plan on pitching your book to producers, you could make a post in the Authoring & Playwriting Lounge, asking other authors for advice and insight (www.stage32.com/lounge/playwriting).
