I just wrapped my romantic comedy screenplay Neon County!
Set in the year 3035, this story blends small-town romance with a playful retro-futuristic world. Think Sweet Home Alabama meets The Jetsons, a fusion of cozy nostalgia and high-concept rom-com charm.
At its heart, Neon County follows Vada Bloom, a full-figured Black wedding planner who gets fired from her glamorous galactic job and returns home to Mississippi to lay low. There, she rekindles a second-chance romance with her high school sweetheart, Rhett, a small-town mechanic who never left. Add in quirky supporting characters, a high-stakes festival, and a world that’s equal parts Southern and sci-fi, and you’ve got a heartfelt, inclusive love story ready for the screen.
