Hi fam, I’m currently working on a fantasy–suspense–thriller trilogy. The script for Part 1 is complete, and I have outlines for Part 2 and 3 ready. Here’s where I’m a little stuck: ××Should I start approaching agents now to help me connect with a studio? ××Or should I finish writing all three scripts first before reaching out? My hesitation is this: if a studio requests rewrites on Part 1, those changes could affect the direction of Part 2 and 3. I don’t want to lock myself into full drafts that might get torn apart later. Would love to hear from those who’ve been through this— What’s the smarter move: pitch with a strong Part 1 + outlines … or wait until the full trilogy scripts are done? Thanks in advance for your insights

Hi, Lokakshith Roy. Welcome to the community. Stage 32 has a blog that'll help you navigate the platform and connect with creatives and industry professionals all over the world. Producers, directors, screenwriters, and more. www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-successfully-navigate-the-stage-32-platform-...
Stage 32 had its monthly Community Open House recently. You can watch the recording here (www.stage32.com/education/products/stage-32-s-august-community-open-house). It's free. It'll also help you navigate Stage 32 and connect with creatives and industry pros.
I suggest adding a profile picture of yourself. People will feel more comfortable networking and collaborating with you if they know what you look like. And if you have a picture, your profile will show up when someone searches for you. You can upload a picture by clicking the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and selecting “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu, then clicking the red button underneath your location and choosing "Update profile picture."
Congratulations on finishing the first script! Part of your post got cut off. You can edit your post by clicking the downward arrow in the top right corner of the post and selecting “Edit Post.”

I would finish the first script, rewrite, polish, rewrite and rewrite again.

just curious, how many drafts has part 1 been through?

5+ drafts and counting. It began as one film, but the story quickly proved it deserved a trilogy — it’s bigger, deeper, and more powerful that way.

Here's what I suggest, Lokakshith Roy:
– Make sure Part 1 is strong
– Register Part 1 with the Copyright Office in your country if you haven't already, but you might not need to register scripts in your country
– Get feedback on Part 1 (www.stage32.com/scriptservices)
– Make pitch material for Part 1, like a logline, synopsis, treatment, and pitch deck
– Post Part 1 on your Stage 32 profile. Producers search profiles for projects. Click the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and select “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Loglines” and click “Add/edit loglines” to the right of “Loglines.” You can also post your script on your profile this way: www.stage32.com/loglines (near the top where it says “Add a Logline”)
– Network/build relationships
– Write other scripts to build up your portfolio (write other scripts instead of Parts 2 and 3 because if Part 1 doesn't do well in theaters/on streaming -- I hope it does! -- there probably won't be a Part 2 and 3)
– Pitch Part 1 and your other scripts (www.stage32.com/scriptservices/pitch-sessions)
– Enter screenwriting contests (www.stage32.com/scriptservices/contests)

Does part one work as a standalone film?

I agree mostly with Maurice. Copyright it, share it with trusted friends. Not so sure about contests.

The scope of this story is far too big for a single film. Condensing it would strip away the essence and emotional depth — it truly needs the trilogy format to be executed properly

I did consider shaping it as a series, but the scale of emotions — the highs, the adrenaline, the goosebumps — simply can’t be captured that way. This story demands a cinematic experience. Stretching it into a series would only dilute its impact
