JUST RELEASED: Global nonprofit Breaking Through the Lens (BTTL) has officially partnered with Stage 32 to expand opportunities for underrepresented filmmakers worldwide. This collaboration combines BTTL’s focus on targeted funding and mentorship with Stage 32’s world-class online education and certification programs—together working toward greater equity in film financing.
As part of this partnership, applications are now open for the BTTL Action Grant, live on Stage 32’s Global Contest Hub
Two filmmakers will be awarded $10,000 each in development funding:
➢ The BTTL Action Grant – helping a feature film project take a crucial step toward production.
➢ The Simbelle Impact Award – supported by Simbelle Productions, given to one finalist director.
This program is designed for women and LGBTQIA+ directors with feature films in late-stage development. Beyond the grants, finalists will join a year-long journey that includes:
➢ 1:1 mentorship with top industry leaders
➢ Development workshops covering finance, legal strategy, indie distribution, and pitching
➢ A live investor showcase during the Cannes Film Festival 2026
The Official Jury for this year brings together a powerhouse lineup of producers, executives, and industry champions—including the financiers/producers behind ROMA, The Brutalist, Brides, Eleanor The Great, and many more.
Through this partnership, BTTL members, finalists, and grantees also gain discounted access to Stage 32’s vast on-demand education library and Master Certification tracks. Our shared mission is to not only provide funding, but also to empower the women’s workforce in film to upskill, build credentials, and thrive globally.
